I picked "Little Earthquakes" up at Goodwill a couple months ago and finally finished it over the weekend. I had enjoyed the "In Her Shoes" movie with Cameron Diaz and Toni Collette which was also written by Jennifer Weiner, and I was in the mood for a chick lit kind of book, so I thought this might fit the bill.
The chapters in this book are written from the perspective of 4 different women, each handling, marriage, pregnancy, infancy, and other life events in their own way. This frequent change in perspective kept me interested, but the content wasn't exactly riveting. The book was ok but it wasn't a page turner and if I'd known then what I know now, I probably wouldn't have started this ever-so-slightly below average book.
On another note, I've taken a couple solo road trips over the past few weeks and had the chance to make it through 2 audio-books while in the car. "Water for Elephants" by Sara Gruen and "Twenties Girl" by Sophia Kinsella. "Water for Elephants" was great but "Twenties Girl" wasn't. I plan to write a little bit about each of them in the next few days once I get another break from the dissertation revisions that have been plaguing me.
So - given that I'm between books right now - does anyone have any suggestions for my next read?
I've been thinking about "The Help"... anyone read it?

The Help is excellent. Just read it in May. If you are looking for something good for an audio book, have you read The Red Tent? I listened to it on disc and loved it. It's about the wives of Jacob, from their perspective. I was entranced by it and it was great on disc. My last book was Wicked. I was feeling so-so about that one.
I just read "The Lucky One" by Nicholas Sparks... soooo good! I couldn't put it down.
